Program Overview

The Adult Education program at Prairie State College offers free classes in:

  • English as a Second Language
  • Adult Basic Education (reading and math)
  • Adult Secondary Education (GED Prep) in English and Spanish
  • Citizenship Preparation

Registration for classes is in July-August for the fall semester and in December-January for the spring semester. Classes are offered in the morning, evening, and online.

The Adult Literacy program offers one-on-one and small group tutoring in reading, math and English language.

Classes and tutoring are free to adult age 18+ (ages 16-17 require a formal high school withdrawal letter).

Career training and guidance are provided to Adult Education students.

Adult Education and Literacy is located in the Adult Training and Outreach Center (ATOC) building on Vollmer Rd.
