Program Overview

The Adult Education Program at Arkansas Northeastern College (ANCAE) is committed to empowering adult learners by improving their educational skills to achieve their personal goals.

The Adult Education program offers a variety of classes available to all persons age 16 or older. We provide free instruction in basic skills, preparation for the GED" exam, high School credit recovery, English-as-a-Second-Language, ACCUPLACER (college) preparation, and computer literacy. ANCAE is currently operating on the Blytheville campus, Osceola campus, and Leachville campus.

Blytheville and Leachville are official G.E.D.® testing sites.

The classes operate on a managed enrollment basis. An adult education student is not officially enrolled in the program until he/she completes 12 hours of classroom instruction. Due to the U.S. Department of Education and the Arkansas Department of Career Education mandate, the 12-hours attendance requirement in accordance with the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act of 1998, we urge each student to attend classes at least 12 hours before leaving the program. There is not an Education class registration or tuition fee for Adult education classes.

There is no specific attendance policy; students may attend classes based upon their need and preferences. The only exception to the attendance policy is for the students who are 16 or 17 and/or have been referred to the Adult Education Program by a public school, court, or other qualifying agency. Such referred students must agree in writing that they will abide by the specific attendance guidelines or they will be dropped from the program and the referring agency will be notified.

Full-time instructors for the Adult Education Program are Arkansas licensed teachers and are further endorsed to teach adult education. Part-time instructors are Arkansas licensed. All instructors have been trained to screen students for learning styles, learning difficulties, and learning disabilities. All non-diagnostic screening is strictly confidential and will not be shared with an individual or agency without the student's written permission.

Arkansas Northeastern College Adult Education program faculty and staff are available to assist you.
