A letter from adult education student, Ana Brito.
Good afternoon, everyone,
My name is Ana Brito. I am a first-generation immigrant, happily married and have three beautiful kids, two girls and one boy.
I would like to share with you my experiences with HCDE Adult Education program. One amazing experience is that I got to work with teachers that do care about students and help them get the GED certificate. My teacher, Ms. Coleman, always motivated me in class and showed me what skills I need to pass the GED exam.
My first class I took was math and I was nervous because my baseline score was not as high as my classmates. It was until I met Ms. Rosie Coleman, our math teacher, who explained everything so clearly so I felt confident in myself to take the GED math exam in my first three weeks of class, and I passed. In less than two months, I had my GED certificate. AMAZING! I was so happy that I felt I was able to do anything in my life. At the time HCDE offered other type of workforce classes. I signed up for Business Office Technology. The lessons and training were done clearly that in six weeks I got my certificate. I was like, “Great, now I know it is my time to shine and it is time to do what I have always loved, Real Estate!”
HCDE has helped me a lot not only in getting my GED certificate and the Business Office Technology but also giving me the confidence in what I need to achieve my goals. Furthermore, HCDE can help adult learners find employment to support you and your family.
