Student and Volunteer Success Stories

"I want a better life for my son." These are the first words Tiffany said when she came into our center to begin studying to earn her GED certification. Tiffany became a mother at the age of 14 and withdrew from high school at age 16. She had tried alternative high school, but found the struggles of motherhood and school to be too much. She decided to work toward her GED. Tiffany has accomplished so much in the short time she has been enrolled in our program. Since starting with us, Tiffany has achieved her GED, Work Keys certification, passed the paraeducator exam, gotten her driving permit, has applied for public housing, gained employment, and has enrolled in post-secondary. She will begin her college studies this fall at a local community college. Her life changes began when she walked in and asked for help, but none of this would have occurred without support of adult education staff and community members. Tiffany's story is just one of over 150 GEDs earned in the past five years.
