Santa Monica Public Library provides one-on-one adult literacy tutoring, as well as a weekly Tech & Tasks program where volunteers work one-on-one with walk-in adult learners, assisting them with reading, writing, online forms and other computer assistance, and help with personal devices.
Additionally, the library offers the Career Online High School program, which provides adult learners the opportunity to earn an accredited high school diploma and a certificate in a high-demand career field.
The library collaborates with the local school district's Adult Education Center to provide ESL and citizenship conversation classes at the Main Library and Pico Branch. One-on-one adult ESL tutoring is also available.
For children and families, the library offers storytimes for babies, toddlers, and preschool age children, Reading-2-Go backpacks that can be checked out, and ReadyRosie, and early literacy video platform that helps caregivers with at-home learning.
