Alvin ISD Book Bus

Program Overview

The Alvin ISD Book Bus is a mobile library that visits neighborhoods throughout the 250 square miles of our district. The Book Bus is a school bus that was transformed into a mobile library entirely by Alvin ISD students.

The Alvin ISD Book Bus brings literacy and other learning opportunities directly to the neighborhoods of Alvin Independent School District students and families during the summer time. The schedule is posted on our website.

The BOOK BUS brings resources to students and their families who may not have access to literacy opportunities at home, and those who may not have transportation to public or school libraries during the summer.

The learning opportunities provided through the Alvin ISD Book Bus help Alvin Independent School District close the achievement gap that sometimes results from summer reading loss. In addition, the program enables educators to continue building relationships with students and families by bringing fun reading activities directly to them.
