Program Overview
Bridging Digital Divides seeks to promote Digital Equity in Boulder County by connecting underserved families and individuals with digital resources that they would otherwise not be able to access on their own. We work with partnering non-profits and non-governmental organizations to provide affordable technology to low-income households, teach basic computer skills to individuals that need them, and collaborate with our partners who are already doing good work to further their missions and create a sustainable community-driven movement towards digital equity.
Our program has built on the success of one digital literacy course offered at a local school to scale up and extend it to excluded members of the larger community. Our digital literacy series consist of 8 two hour classes, in Spanish, covering the basics of email, internet search and security, scams and phishing, typing and word-processing, as well as navigating local online resources such as the Boulder Valley School District parent portal, used to check students' grades and communicate with teachers. Childcare and dinner are provided, and participants with perfect attendance take home a Chromebook ($180 value) for only $60 at the end of the course.
