Program Overview
The Brunner Literacy Center (BLC) was founded in 2011 and provides free, individualized tutoring to adults over the age of 19 who want to improve their reading, writing, math, and conversational English skills. The BLC has four program areas designed to meet students' personal or professional goals:
- Adult Basic Education (ABE)
The ABE program brings an adult's reading and math skills to 6th-grade proficiency. - General Equivalency Diploma (GED)
The GED program prepares an adult to secure a GED credential by covering a 7th-12th-grade curriculum. This program explores the GED exam's four subject areas, provides practice testing opportunities, and develops higher-level writing and reading comprehension skills. - Continuing Education (CE)
The CE program offers opportunities for individualized study beyond a GED or high school diploma, such as to prepare for college entry, licensure, certifications, or career qualifications. - English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)
The ESOL program provides an adult who is not a native English speaker with skills in English conversation, reading, and writing.

"My tutoring has been awesome so far. I never thought I'd ever get the hang of the problems I've had with math. I appreciate the patience you all have and the time you take with me. Thank you so much. This is really motivating me mentally for the test. The staff is so nice and helpful. Thanks again."
"Emma," BLC student since March 2018
"I came to the BLC to teach math, and I've learned more from my students than I've ever taught them. It's been a true blessing!"
