English Language Development Program

Program Overview

Newcomer Program: Pre-academic: Join college-bound second-language learners in Reading, Writing, Grammar and/or Listening/Speaking classes. 2-3 Cultural Activites/field trips included per session.

Newcomer Program (on-campus or online) $100.00 per block (10 hours): Individualized tutoring in areas of reading, writing, speaking and listening. Topics can be student-driven.

Newcomer Groups welcome (10% discount for groups of 5 or more)!

Missouriana Teen Camp: 2 weeks of ESL programming on Warrensburg campus (ages 15-17). Activity filled programming for second-language learners.

A great and unforgettable experience at the IEP's ELI at UCM! This is Abed, the newcomer student at UCM attending the ELI spring semester 2020. The ELI is simply awesome! This is a unique and one of the unforgettable experience. Your life will change and won't be the same again, I promise, Mine did! I joined the program when I was very new in this area; finding friends and getting along were my main concern, but that was gone immediately after joining the ELI. I learnt not only English, but also American culture, and much more! I never felt bored in this semester because the ELI community and teachers were so friendly, supportive, humorous and knowledgeable that was so pleasing to me. I met people from all over the world! The ELI organized amazing and fun activities, which made our learning more effective and our friendships stronger. I am fan of traveling and now I do have friends everywhere around the world, and I'm so excited to go and meet them again. I felt blessed to join the program and get to know amazing people there.
