Program Overview

English for Second Language Learners (ESLL) / May Literacy Center

The ELI welcomes adult members of the community who are second language learners of English to learn and practice their English skills during Fall, Spring & Summer sessions. The English Communication classes are free and open to all levels of language learners. The ESLL program is a joint initiative of the Egnlish Language Institute at Salisbury University and the May Literacy Center at Salisbury University.

The May Literacy Center (MLC) supports children's reading and literacy development from kindergarten through 8th grade. Support graduate and undergraduate students' knowledge of reading and literacy development and instruction through interactive learning experiences under the guidance of Salisbury University faculty. The MLC works with students of all ability levels and teach each student based upon his/her strengths or needs. Tutoring services are offered on a first-come, first-serve basis in the fall, spring and summer.

The ESLL and MLC joint initiative seeks to create a family literacy program that serves the immigrant communities of the Eastern Shore of Maryland with classes and tutoring for students of English as a Second Language of all ages.
