Program Overview
The Family Learning Center is a place where families have the opportunity to participate, understand, enjoy, and value the education their children receive in the Canyons School District. We had served more than 600 adult learners since 2011. Many of them have gone to get a higher education. 500 have learned basic computer skills. Last year we implemented music lessons. 35 students learned how to play the ukulele and performed at our Recognition Night at the end of the year.
"Plazas Comunitarias" is one of our greatest programs that allows parents who didn't have the opportunity to learn how to read and write in their native language to do so. Also allows our learners to obtain their elementary or secondary education. We have had 20 students complete elementary education and 15 finish their secondary education credentials. We have also had five adult learners who have obtained the skills to proficiently read and write in their Language.
