Program Overview

The Frank Gordon MCAPD adult education program provides GED preparation, adult basic education, and ESOL classes year-round in Mesa, AZ and Glendale, AZ at no cost to the participants. Although these classes are located within probation buildings, they are also open to community members not involved in the criminal justice system, which increases access to high quality resources for anyone in need of education services.

Each education center has a fully equipped Internet computer lab for student use for online learning, job searching, resume building, and building computer and digital literacy skills. In order to make sure that students have basic computer literacy skills so they can compete in the modern job market and educational system, MCAPD's Education program provides free student access to online learning programs TABE and GED Academy so they may study online at home, at a public library, or in the computer lab at the MCAPD Education centers. This encourages students to become computer and Internet literate.

Class registration is held regularly, so please contact the program location you are interested in for specific registration dates and details. Students must be 16 years old or older and have a valid U.S. or AZ ID. All students must be legally present and legally able to work in the U.S.

The Education Centers are open Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, and class times vary. Adult Basic Education and GED Prep classes are held at both centers, and English classes for non-English speakers are held at our Mesa location only as well as virtually.

Our main adult education phone number is 602-506-0055, and you can select the correct center from there. If you know which center you want, please call for class and registration info.
