Freedome Center

Program Overview

The Freedome Center uses performing arts to teach literacy, inspire personal change and mental wellness. Our flagship arts in education initiative focuses on creative writing, media literacy, social-emotional learning, violence prevention, and positive decision-making. This after-school program runs for 25 - 30 weeks throughout the school year culminating with an original web series written by, performed by, and produced by the youth participants. The program helps to meet state and common core standards for ELA. The Freedome Center also hosts family literacy programming and English Language Acquisition programming for the adults of the students we serve. Our hope is that parents would be better prepared to support their children with homework and school work throughout their education process while learning and growing themselves.
