Program Overview

In the heart of the Golden Gate neighborhood in Stuart stands a gem: The historic Golden Gate building. The building is treasured by the community as an important landmark that connects the neighborhood to its past. The Mission-style Golden Gate building was built in 1925 and had several identities before it fell into disrepair in 1959.

Fast forward to present day, a collaboration of local agencies and funders have worked to transform the historic building into the Golden Gate Center for Enrichment. While House of Hope is managing the building and all of its operations, the synergy from various partners provide the community with programs, classes, trainings, technology, and information sessions designed to enhance life skills, earning potential, health and overall well-being.

Student and Volunteer Success Stories

"Molly Mitchell" – 57-year old female came to one session of career coaching. She was a victim of long-term emotional abuse and recently in recovery from the consequences. She was referred to food pantry and computer classes but primary need was help updating her resume. She was able to do that in one session and the following week landed a job at as a receptionist at a local hair salon. She reported to us that the biggest thing she benefited from the career coaching program was not the resume skills she acquired in her session. She found her career coach to be compassionate and encouraging, motivating her to not look to the past and that she "is more than just [her] circumstances". Molly thought that she came across timid and stand-offish but her career coach and the GGCE Site Coordinator assured her she projected kindness and confidence. After landing the job, Molly reported that her session allowed her to see what we at House of Hope saw in her, helping her feel authentic and "reclaimed who I am, catapulting me forward".
