Program Overview
The IRC in Atlanta is one of five resettlement agencies in Georgia and provides comprehensive programming to the largest number of newly arrived refugees. The IRC resettles hundreds of refugees each year and serves many more refugees, immigrants, and asylees with diverse services that ensure families are empowered to rebuild their lives in their new communities including access to case management, healthcare services, employment services, youth and adult education, and immigration legal services.
A spectrum of onsite adult education programming is available for newly arrived families and include multilevel ESOL classes, English Literacy and Civics classes, a women's beginning literacy class, programming that serves refugee-specific Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) recipients, vocational ESOL and computer literacy classes. These are supported by onsite childcare for infants and children up to the age of five, and is designed to allow equitable participation by parents.
