"I was born in Afghanistan. I was resettled to Buffalo with my family on July 24th, 2014. I chose to enroll in the MAC program in 2014, when I was 17. I enrolled to strengthen my English, gain work experiences, find a job, and maybe earn a HSE diploma. Within the period of time in the program, I managed to do volunteering within the community like working at a food bank, work on a urban farm, paint shelters, and clean up parks. In MAC, I gained enough confidence that I started to give speeches about my life to schools and for other organizations. I was able to get two different jobs because of the skills I acquired from MAC, where I am currently still employed. In March I am registered to take the TASC exam. I am one subject away from earning my HSE diploma. When I pass I plan to attend Erie Community College in the fall. I would like to become a police officer as a career."
