Program Overview

LLC's Adult Education program provides a variety of services, including high school equivalency (HSE) preparation classes, at no cost. Students 17 and older who are no longer attending high school may attend free GED/HSE preparation classes at the Workforce Development Center in Mattoon, the Kluthe Center for Higher Education and Technology in Effingham, the Eastern Region Center in Marshall, the Western Region Center in Pana, or at sites in Charleston, Paris, Shelbyville and Sullivan. Many adult students find that earning a GED is the first step to prepare to return to school or enter the job market. Workplace readiness and resume building are a part of classes. A graduation ceremony, complete with caps and gowns, is held each year.
