Program Overview
Since 1967, our trained volunteer tutors work with the people whose lack of the ability to speak, read and write English at a functional level traps them in lives of poverty and exclusion from community. Quietly and effectively, around kitchen tables, in laundry rooms, at worksites and churches and in jail, our volunteers meet the most disadvantaged learners where they are, and help them to achieve their dreams through Literacy.
"I gained the confidence I needed for years to pronounce English. Now I don't have to worry to answer the phone, buy groceries, to talk with my neighbor, to resolve the simple things in life. The program completely changed my life and my family's life" Charo
We serve all over the Santa Cruz County with offices in Santa Cruz and Watsonville.
