Program Overview

Literacy Volunteers of Massachusetts at the Pollard Memorial Library provides free, confidential, and flexibly scheduled tutoring to adults in either basic literacy or English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) through the use of trained and supervised volunteer tutors. Tutor and student pairs meet at mutually agreeable times and in public locations in the Greater Lowell area. A potential student must be over the age of 16, not enrolled in public school, and willing to commit to regular tutoring. All volunteers must successfully complete a volunteer information session and tutor training workshop in either basic literacy or ESOL before being matched. Please note that there is a waiting list for services. Literacy Volunteers of Massachusetts at the Pollard Memorial Library is an affiliate of Literacy Volunteers of Massachusetts.
