Program Overview
Little Dixie CAA has operated a Head Start Program since 1968, serving 429 children (ages three and four years old) within 29 classrooms across Choctaw, McCurtain, and Pushmataha Counties in Oklahoma. The program enhances pre-school children's physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development, while enabling parents to be better caregivers and teachers to their children. Since 1998, the Early Head Start Program has served infants, toddlers, and families by providing early, continuous, intensive, comprehensive and high-quality educational, health, nutritional, social and family support services. EHS currently operates 48 center-based slots across three center locations (Antlers, Hugo, and Idabel). The centers foster nurturance, brain stimulation, exploration, and creativity within safe, comfortable environments. The EHS-Child Care Partnership Program provides high-quality care/early childhood program services for 132 children under age three through partnering child care centers.
