Program Overview

MDC's Educational Opportunity Center (EOC) offers free educational support to adults in the following areas: educational planning, career advising and exploration, assistance with financial aid forms and college applications, and student loan default advocacy. The EOC also provides one-on-one career coaching, resume review workshops, interviewing, and hiring events.

When Bethany came to MDC she was so beaten down, but she was determined to change her life."

Bethany qualified for transitional housing and worked over the next two years to get her education, a job and care for her two young daughters. Years earlier, Bethany's mother had stolen her identity and trashed her credit, so everything was harder than it should have been. Getting her driver's license getting a phone, and registering for school took months; these were real challenges for Bethany. Today she has a full time job, is on track with school and is soon moving out of MDC housing.
