Program Overview

The New-York Historical Society offers free online and in-person classes for permanent residents to prepare for the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services naturalization exam. The naturalization test is a demanding oral and written exam that Legal Permanent Residents (LPRs) must pass to become citizens. There are 100 questions on U.S. history and government that the USCIS officer could ask during the interview. Our interactive program covers all 100 questions and includes preparation for the naturalization interview at the end of the session. Using the Museum's incredible collection, our students will be able to learn about American history and government by examining paintings and documents we have collected over the years. We offer courses at different times and intensities so that participants can choose the class that best suits their needs.
