Program Overview

As a parent, you are your child's first and most important teacher! Your home is your child's first classroom. Your child will learn more during the early years than any other time in his/her life. Parents as Teachers can help you lay a strong foundation for your child's success in school. Parents as Teachers is a voluntary and FREE program that provides practical, effective help for parents prior to their child's birth until the child enters Kindergarten.

Program Services Include:

Home Visits

Home visits by a certified parent educator help parents understand their child's development. We offer age-appropriate child development and parenting information. Parent educators offer practical tips on ways to encourage learning, help parents learn to observe their child, and address parenting concerns.

Referral Network

PAT helps link families with other community services, if needed. Resource materials on various parenting topics, as well as children's books are available for check out through the North Callaway PAT program.

Group Connections

Group connection meetings give parents/guardians a chance to gain new insights, as well as share experiences, and common concerns with other parents. Group connection meetings give children and parents the opportunity to participate in fun, educational activities!

Screenings

PAT offers FREE in home and onsite screenings twice a year in vision, hearing, motor, and pre-academics!
