Program Overview
La Conexion is a community-based non-profit organization serving the Latino community in Wood and surrounding counties. Nuestros Ninos El Futuro (Our Children the Future) is our family literacy program with 3 components:
1. Children and Youth tutoring/homework assistance and mentoring. Includes ESL for LEP children.
2. Strengthening parents ability to support their children education. This includes assisting parents to understand schools procedures and communications; ESL classes and orientations on school regulations.
3. A Leer! this components aims to increase reading access by building libraries in Latino homes. This is a collaboration with the Wood County Public Library, Grounds for Thought and Read for Literacy, who donate the books, and Home Depot, who builds the bookshelves.
