Our Lady of Guadalupe Center ESL

Program Overview

We offer three levels of ESL classes for adults. Each participant takes a pre-class placement assessment and then is assessed twice throughout the classes.

If extra help is needed we set up times either privately or before class to do that. Like wise if someone is excelling in a lower level class, we discuss the option of moving them into a higher level class.

Our staff and volunteers are bi-lingual and cultutally competient.

Economic Development is a goal of our center that helps immigrants stabilize economically. By focusing on employment, we strengthen whole families and stimulate the local economy. Since language is often a barrier for people whose first language is Spanish, we provide free classes to low income people to help them gain the skills they need for permanent job placement thus reducing poverty.

We recognize that businesses in Central Ohio with a high density of workers of Hispanic/Latino origin have a need for employees to be communicative, confident proficient with
the English language.

To provide the ESL classes, the Our Lady of Guadalupe Center collaborates with the learning institutes to bring the best of Columbus ESL programming at our center and directly to potential employees. With the class, people will improve their English skills and become a stronger candidate for employment and other opportunities.
