Program Overview

Parents as Teachers (PAT) is a FREE nationally recognized, evidence-based program designed to provide parents with information to help build their children's intellectual, language, social, and physical development from birth to age six.

By understanding what to expect during each stage of development, you can easily capture the teachable moments in everyday life.

What can I expect during a PAT home visit?

PAT home visits focus on three areas: parent-child interaction, development-centered parenting, family well-being.

During home visits, family development specialists share information and ideas based on your child's age, discuss parenting concerns, and share fun activities that help parents and children play together. Home visits are scheduled at a convenient time and place (in your home or a local community setting). Visits last approximately one hour and are usually scheduled twice a month.
