Pop Goes the Classroom's Pop Up Preschool places early childhood professionals on public park playgrounds to support early learning efforts, encourage family literacy, and create communities that reduce toxic stress.

Student and Volunteer Success Stories

I had an opportunity to volunteer with the Pop Up Preschool during its pilot stage. We supported families by modelling activities they could do at home with their children. We gave them free books and art supplies. Additionally we provided them with information about how to foster literacy in young children and the important role that family literacy plays in growing readers. Each week we gave families activity calendars to build on experiences throughout the week. I watched friendships grow among parents who had not interacted while on the playground in the past. They created community so quickly and loved the parenting tips and home activities.
