Program Overview

Reach Out and Read gives young children a foundation for success by incorporating books into pediatric care. During regular pediatric checkups, pediatricians and nurses give new, developmentally-appropriate books to children, ages six months through five years, and advise parents about the importance of reading aloud in order to develop vocabulary and the language skills that serve as the foundation for literacy and learning.
