READ Association of Saginaw County

Program Overview

The READ Association of Saginaw County helps students improve their reading skills and discover the joy of reading in three ways:

1) Provides mentors to read with children on a weekly basis at 32 sites across Saginaw County. (READ Mentor Program)
2) Partners with schools, nursing homes, and STARS (Saginaw Transit Authority Regional Services) to provide an opportunity for children to read to residents on a weekly basis providing reading practice and intergenerational bonds. (READing STARS)
3) Conducts a unique 12-week, family literacy program to share, support, and encourage reading activities between parents and their children in their home, creating a systemic change. (Raising Readers Academy)
