Program Overview
The ROE 33 Adult Volunteer Literacy provides recruitment and retention initiatives, support and case management services, leadership activities, volunteer basic and advanced training, and educational enrichment activities for both students and volunteers. Volunteers participate in 12 hours of basic literacy training which involve participatory methods such as individual, pair, and small group work, dialogue, open-ended questions, role playing, brainstorming, and observation. Trainings are scheduled at variety of times and locations to meet volunteer availability and meet the training requirements of the Illinois State Library Literacy Office. Continued support is offered throughout the year through in-service trainings and workshops determined by the needs or requests from students and/or volunteers.
