Program Overview

The School of Education at the University of Pittsburgh offers opportunities to become a undergraduate, masters, or doctoral student, and offers community-facing programming such as guest speaker events, a local art festival, tutoring, family storytimes, adult professional development, and family-school engagement opportunities. Please check out our social media pages and website for current events and listings.

*Free tutoring programs happen in partnership with our local community engagement centers. A schedule and contact information specifically for free tutoring can be found here for our Homewood neighborhood program: https://cec.pitt.edu/homewood/pittenrich/ and here for our Hill District neighborhood program: https://cec.pitt.edu/programs/ready-to-learn/.

*We work very closely with all 28 Family Support Centers throughout Allegheny County, which offer many free parenting resources and activities, including transition to kindergarten free events. Schedules vary across locations (and due to the pandemic) but updated calendars can be found here: https://familycenters.alleghenycounty.us/classes/

*Speakers and summer offerings can always be found on our social media sites. For example, in summer 2022, a new Pitt Education summer academy will offer stipends to Black high school students that are interested in becoming teachers. Learn more: https://bit.ly/3KRFld4
