Program Overview

The Secaucus Public Library is a medium-sized public library serving a population of approximately 18,000 residents. We offer a wide variety of services and programs for children and adults of all ages.

Our Children's & Teen Departments serve the recreational reading and research needs of children and young adults, ages birth to 18 years, with a collection of fiction and non-fiction books, multimedia books, audio CDs, DVDs, magazines and more. Included in our collection are items in Spanish as well as bilingual books and DVDs.

We offer a variety of programs throughout the year for children, including LapTots, Story Hours, Summer Reading programs, Teen Advisory Board meetings and Chess Club for ages 5 and up. Please follow us on Facebook for quick program updates, photos from our events, and access to fun and age-appropriate links.

Through our Adult Literacy and Learning Department, local residents who are interested in improving their English speaking, reading and writing skills have access to a wide range of free resources, books, CDs, computer-based programs, classes and private tutoring sessions for English language learners at all levels. Participants are encouraged to become part of a wider community through semi-annual parties, picnics and group trips.

In addition, we offer free classes on a rotating basis for adults who wish to learn Spanish and for those preparing to apply for U.S. citizenship.

The department also hosts a growing collection of world language books and DVDs. Recent additions include dozens of Bollywood movies as well as award-winning films in Chinese, Korean and Spanish.

If you are interested in getting more involved, either as a student or a volunteer, please contact Gladys Tous, the library's ESL and World Language Coordinator, at 201-330-2083 x4014 or email gladys.tous@secaucus.bccls.org
