Program Overview
Provides assessments and therapies for individuals with communication disorders; stuttering & speech, writing and reading difficulties. Clients range from infants to adult stroke victims.
With a team of nearly 20 speech-language pathologists (SLPs) the Speech Language & Learning Program at CHSC provides individual and group therapy to children from birth until they reach adulthood. CHSC has created special programs to align with the needs of children that require therapy to improve their communication skills, including the Parent-Toddler Therapy Group Program for children 6 months to 3 years of age.
The Preschool Literacy and Language Classroom (PLLC) program was also created by CHSC. This program is held in Head Start classrooms, preschools, and community sites throughout the Cleveland area. The SLP conducts a 45-minute classroom lesson that focuses on pre-literacy skills, vocabulary, and comprehension skills.
"How to Talk to your Preschooler and Build Language and Literacy Skills in your Daily Routine" is another outreach program created by CHSC. This program is offered to groups of caregivers and is held at various Cleveland locations. The program's goal is to guide parents/caregivers in reinforcing skills learned by their children in the home and within the community.
