Program Overview
Providence Community Library organizes and implements a summer reading program for youth (birth - high school) at each of our 9 libraries.
Activities include game cards full of hands-on literacy activities for children to try, summer reading lists coordinated with the Providence School Department, and numerous free performances including music, magic, science, art, and storytelling throughout the summer. Library staff host art programs, book clubs, science and math activities, story times, and other fun activities .. all for FREE! Most important of all, kids are encouraged to read and discuss books while school is not in session which helps them to maintain their skills over the summer.
Providence Community Library is a member of the Collaborative Summer Library Program and implements the national summer reading theme. In 2016 ... for children, "On Your Mark, Get Set, Read;" for teens, "Get in the Game Read;" and, for adults, "Exercise Your Mind."
