Program Overview

Toberman Neighborhood Center's mission is to assist Harbor Area families by delivering life-changing services that encourage, inform, educate and empower them to live healthy and purposeful lives. Toberman is the longest-established, most comprehensive direct service provider in the Los Angeles Harbor Area, and serves as a safe haven for our community's youth and families. The Center provides providing robust and integrated family-focused programs that address the underlying causes of persistent poverty with two long-term goals: financial empowerment of adult customers and educational attainment for adults and youth.

Now in its 112th year, Toberman is a recognized lead agency in providing robust and integrated family-focused programs. Services are primarily provided at the Center's 36,000 square foot San Pedro campus, as well as satellite sites in Wilmington and Harbor Gateway. Primary programs include Children, Youth & Family Services (after-school academic enrichment, family literacy, family engagement activities); FamilySource Center (family case management, adult education, food pantry, legal services, mental health counseling, job training); and Gang Intervention/Prevention Services (mediation, mentorship, violence interruption, community building).
