Program Overview

The services offered / activities
conducted by the program are:

o Job Training: (Specifically, warehouse and forklift operations) YWCA will offer two (8 week) warehouse and forklift classes in partnership with United Rentals. Each class session lasts last 3 hours / day during the course run. At the conclusion of each session, each participant takes an exam to demonstrate mastery of the skill or trade, and will apply for employment thereafter.

o Job Readiness: (Training for those who have never worked or are reentering the work force) YWCA offers job readiness training to our seniors (18 and older) in our 21st Century after school schools. These schools are in the 38126, 38111 and 38106 Zip codes.

o After School Scholars: Middle & high school students receive tutoring in the 21st Century After School Scholars Program, preparing them for post-secondary education.

o Financial Literacy: YWCA offers two (8 week) computer-based financial literacy classes. Additionally, we are offering financial literacy workshop (6 hours, 1 hour a week) to ALL participants in GED, job readiness at the office and on the school site.

o GED Attainment: Class sessions to assist participants earn a General Equivalency Diploma (GED). The GED component holds semester (5 month) long sessions with participants taking the exam at the end of the tutoring session.
